Sabedoria Natural - Natural Wisdom

A Kanya vive com os pais. Diz-se uma agricultora preguiçosa mas trabalha 17 horas por dia. Às três da manhã vai com o pai trabalhar para as árvores de borracha, às seis cozinha o pequeno-almoço, volta por mas uma hora e depois fica comigo. É ela quem cozinha em casa está sempre pronta a trazer um refresco ou algo para comer entre refeições. Cozinha desde os onze anos e sonha em ter um restaurante. Tratou-me como um rei. Uma verdadeira mãe da cozinha (forma de dizer cozinheira em Tailandês).

Já com a cabeça cheia de tanta informação que recebi nas outras duas quintas, tive aqui duas lições muito interessantes e lógicas que nunca me tinham ocorrido em mais lado nenhum: 

- Se o fruto nasce apenas na parte de fora da árvore, esta não pode ser coberta por outras árvores. Tem de ser a última camada de qualquer tipo de floresta. Se o fruto crescer no interior significa que as necessidades de luz não são tão grandes podendo-se ter outras árvores maiores por cima. Daí nunca ter visto nada plantado sobre uma oliveira mas já ter visto vegetais plantados por baixo de oliveiras.

- A outra lição tem a ver com o tamanho das folhas das árvores (e esta veio do pai da Kanya). Num sítio em que as árvores têm folhas de tamanho reduzido nunca se conseguirá plantar árvores que tenham folhas com um tamanho superior.

Kanya lives with her parents. She says she's a lazy farmer but works 17 hours a day. At three in the morning she goes with his father to work on the rubber trees, at six o'clock she cooks breakfast, she comes back for one hour more, and then she stays with me. Is she who cooks at home and is always ready to bring a refreshment or something to eat between meals. She has been cooking since she was eleven and dreams of having a restaurant. She treated me like a king. A real mother of the kitchen (way to say cook in Thai).

With my head full of information that I received on the other two farms, I had two very interesting and logical lessons that had never came to me in the past:

- If the fruit is born only on the outside of the tree, it can not be covered by other trees. It has to be the last layer of any kind of forest. If the fruit grows inside it, it means that the light needs aren't much and the tree is able to have other bigger trees on top. Hence I have never seen anything planted on an olive tree but have already seen vegetables planted under olive trees.

- The other lesson has to do with the size of the leaves of the trees (and this one came from Kanya's father). In a place where trees have reduced size leaves you will never be able to plant trees that have leaves of a larger size.
