Na Quinta do Erich - At Erich's Farm

Erich, trinta e cinco anos, professor de inglês em Luisiana. Odeia a sociedade americana. Escreveu uns livros e descobriu a Tailândia.

Arranjou uma mulher bonita enquanto continuava a dar aulas e o seu gosto pela permacultura apurou-se. Passados quinze anos, muitos erros e aprendizagem, tem uma pequena quinta com um solo saudável, muita água e árvores em crescimento. Também cultiva arroz e peixes. Os vizinhos, que o estranhavam, agora imitam-no. Um tipo bem disposto, bem com a vida, com dois filhos lindíssimos, e que hoje me convenceu facilmente a trabalhar descalço na lama e a dar um mergulho num lago que não se consegue ver um palmo em profundidade e com peixes bem grandotes.

Nada de espectacular mas um sítio bem simpático. Ele gosta de ensinar e eu gosto de aprender.

Finalmente tenho nova oportunidade de conduzir uma mota. Mas estou muito enferrujado a usar as mudanças. 

Muita gente me perguntou até aqui se estava feliz e a minha resposta foi sempre "ainda não". Não tenho internet aqui mas acho que hoje posso dizer: Chan mi kuan suk! (Estou feliz :) )

Erich, thirty-five, an English teacher in Louisiana. Hates American society. He wrote some books and discovered Thailand.

He got a beautiful woman while he continued to teach, and his taste for permaculture grew. After fifteen years, many mistakes and learning, he has a small farm with a healthy soil, lots of water and growing trees. He also grows rice and fish. The neighbors, who tought he was crazy, are imitating him now. A cheerful guy, well with life, with two beautiful children, and who today convinced me easily to work barefoot in the mud and to take to swim in a lake wich we can't see a foot in depth and with very large fish.

Nothing spectacular but a very nice place. He likes to teach and I like to learn.

Finally I have a new opportunity to drive a motorcycle. But I'm too rusty to use the gears.

A lot of people asked me here if I was happy and my answer was always "not yet." I don't have internet here but I think today I can say: Chan my kuan suk! (I'm happy :) )
