Corrida de Ratos - Rat Race

Hoje, está a haver o encontro mensal entre estudantes/seguidores do Wanakaset. Têm um banco próprio onde são feitos empréstimos a quem precisa e com melhores condições que as que os bancos oferecem. Os participantes são “obrigados” (ensinados) a poupar, nem que sejam 2.5€ por mês, para que haja dinheiro disponível para emprestar. Se o pagamento não for fácil, a comunidade ajuda quem pediu dinheiro a viabilizar uma forma de retorno financeiro.

Aqui só se fala Tailandês mas o Michael faz os possíveis para que me sinta integrado. Consegui falar com uma voluntária que já cá está há dez anos. Recebe algum dinheiro através de uma fundação e também desistiu do que lhe estavam a ensinar na universidade. Aliás, com as experiências que tenho tido (e o Marzapo é o maior exemplo disso) acho cada vez mais que o que devemos fazer na vida está dentro de nós. O típico medo de: se não vais para a universidade tás tramado, não é bom. É aqui que começa a corrida dos ratos, nos pais.

Amanhã irei com um casal Tailandês para a sua quinta para ir ajudar a ver de perto o método Wanakaset em seu desenvolvimento. 

Today, there is a monthly meeting between Wanakaset students/followers. They have their own bank where loans are made to those in need and with better conditions than banks offer. Participants are "obliged" (taught) to save, even if just 2.5€ per month, so there is available money to borrow. If the payment is not easy, the community helps those who have asked for money to find a way of financial return.

Only Thai is spoken here but Michael does his best to make me feel integrated. I was able to talk to a volunteer who has been here for ten years. She receives some money through a foundation and also gave up of what they were teaching her at the university. In fact, with the experiences I have had (and Marzapo is the greatest example of this) I find more and more that what we should do in life is inside us. The typical fear of: if you don't go to university you're screwed, isn't good at all. This is where the rat race begins, with parents.

Tomorrow I will go with a Thai couple to their farm to help and see closely the Wanakaset method in its development.
