Olá! - Hi!

Olá! Como estão todos?

Eu sinto-me bem, obrigado. Cada vez me sinto mais à vontade por aqui.

As aulas têm corrido bem dentro dos imprevistos inevitáveis. Continuo a tornar as aulas o mais divertidas e eficientes possível. Dou por mim a dançar, a fazer caretas e sons esquisitos. Eles adoram, e eu também.

Os miúdos não estão só a aprender nas aulas mas em todas as interacções que têm comigo. É gratificante ouvi-los usar as poucas palavras que sabem.

Também me vou apercebendo das dificuldades de certos alunos que têm origem nas suas famílias. A falta de confiança de alguns é tal que dói. Mas é um desafio que adoro. Mostrar-lhes do que são capazes e terem orgulho neles próprios.

A professora Som voltou hoje a ser roubada enquanto almoçávamos. Ainda se lembrou que tinha deixado a mala na sala de aula mas foi tarde demais. Cerca de vinte euros. É bastante para aqui. há certos professores que banalizam o problema mas eu estou determinado em apanhar o ladrão, montando uma armadilha com a câmara do meu portátil.

Também tenho estado bastante envolvido com a equipa de futebol da escola. Eles não jogam mal mas o treinador despreza um pouco a segunda equipa. Com a minha ajuda consegui-lhes dar o sabor da vitória mas custou-me uma lesão no pé. Já não sou novo mas esqueço-me disso :)

O director Sarit veio jogar à bola connosco num dia destes. Fiquei contente por o ver deixar a gravata no escritório e vir trocar chutos com os miúdos mas também por me fazer acreditar que daqui a vinte anos ainda é possível jogar à bola (ele tem 58!).

Nesta semana comprei uma enxada na aldeia. Quero participar na horta da escola.

Já vou conseguindo dizer umas coisas em Tailandês o que me permite alguma comunicação com os aldeões. (Eles adoram).

Se alguma vez vieram à Tailândia, peçam um Kana mu crop kai dau. É delicioso (e não vegetariano).

Espero que estejam todos bem. tenho sonhado muito com a malta do Montijo.

Hello! How is everyone?

I feel good, thank you. Every time I feel more at ease here.

Classes have gone well under the inevitable unexpected. I continue to make classes as fun and efficient as possible. I find myself dancing, making funny faces and sounds. They love it, and so do I.

Kids are not only learning in class but in all the interactions they have with me. It's rewarding to hear them use the few words they know.

I'm also realizing the difficulties of certain students wthat start in their families. The lack of confidence of some is such that it hurts. But it's a challenge that I love. Show them what they are capable of and be proud of themselves.

Teacher Som was robbed again today while we had lunch. She still remembered that she had left her bag in the classroom but it was too late. About twenty euros. It's quite a lot here. There are certain teachers who trivialize the problem but I'm determined to catch the thief by setting up a trap with my laptop's camera.

I've also been very involved with the school football team. They don't play badly but the coach despises the second team a little. With my help I managed to give them the taste of victory but it cost me a foot injury. I'm not young but I forget that :)

Director Sarit came to play with us one of these days. I was glad to see him leave his tie in his office and come and play with the kids, but also for making me believe that it's still possible to play in 20 years' time (he's 58!).

This week I bought a hoe in the village. I want to participate in the school garden.

I can already say a few things in Thai which allows me some communication with the villagers. (They love it).

If you have ever come to Thailand, ask for a Kana mu crop kai dau. It's delicious (and not vegetarian).
